Dear Little One

Your daddy and I are SOOOO excited to meet you!! I am half-way (on Tuesday) through this pregnancy and I can’t believe it! You will be here in just 4 short months! Your crib is here and your nursery is coming together. We spent the day yesterday looking for sweet little things to make your room your safe haven. We’ve had the best time dreaming about you. Who you will look like, what personality traits of ours will you pick up? We hope you like to cuddle! We are still working on a name but one has to be careful choosing a name to go along with Higginbotham. Your car seat was gifted to us this weekend and we both teared up thinking about seeing you inside there. Don’t worry your dad drives like a grandpa so you’ll be perfectly safe 😉 

Let’s talk about your daddy for a minute… You are absolutely going to LOVE him, probably more than me! I’m okay with that though… he’s pretty wonderful! He will be complete mush the first time he sees you and I expect him to stay that way forever. He will be putty in your hands. You’ll come back around my way your teenage years… he plans to challenge any boy that comes around to a dual (you’ll get this reference later) …. They won’t win. He is the most kind, the most patient (he would have to be to put up with me) , the most loving soul there is. He loves fiercely, my dear. This means he won’t hesitate to protect you if you need it, which in his mind will be all the time so be prepared, you’ll probably be wearing a helmet while learning to walk. Sometimes he isn’t the best with words but you’ll catch on pretty quick and I expect you to be fluent in “Ky Higgy” rather quickly. He is very passionate about the things he cares about and I can already see how much he cares for you. You have hit the jackpot when it comes to dads!

There are so many people that are excited to meet you. Your grandparents and your 43 Aunts that are mommy’s bestest friends and your Uncle Connon (I fully expect this one to be putty in your hands as well) are probably the most excited. There will be no shortage of love around here! There will be no shortage of grace either, you are allowed to make mistakes, you are allowed to fall, you are allowed to struggle here…. But you must keep going. You must not give up. God has a plan for you life. Destined long before you were growing inside of me.  

Keep growing. I’ll keep eating Ritz crackers and Cinnamon Toast crunch as long as I need. Whatever keeps you happy in there. Stay safe. You are surrounded by love. We are counting down the days!! You are the future!
